India/Kerala: Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II during the interview with Manorma News Channel stressed the importance of mutual responsibility of all parties to bring lasting peace in Malankara. The Patriarch was talking on the age old church dispute between the two Orthodox families in Kerala.
His Holiness praised the leadership of His Beatitude Abune Thomas I Catholicos and Metropolitan Trustee of the Church in India and stated that His Beatitude will bear an important role in form of solution. The Primate said that all parties involved in the dispute should take initiative and express the willingness to discuss the problems. The Syriac Orthodox Patriarch as the mother is always willing help and guide the faithful in Malankara.
The Synod of the Syriac Orthodox has appointed five a member committee to begin discussions with the Indian Orthodox Malankara Church.
