OCP Delegation honors Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II with unique Indian Icon of St Peter and St Thomas

India/Kerala: The Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE Society Delegation honoured His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II – Patriarch on the Apostolic Throne of St Peter in Antioch and All East at Puthenkurish with unique Indian Icon of St Peter and St Thomas on 7th February 2015. The icon resembles the equality and unity of Apostles in Christ. This is the first icon of St Peter and St Thomas written in Indian Iconography style.

This unique piece was written by Fr Bobby Varghese (director of Mar Baselius School of Icon Writing & Liturgy of the Indian Malankara Orthodox) for OCP Foundation. Fr Bobby who is an alumni of St Vladimir Orthodox Theological Seminary currently resides in New York. Fr Bobby is specializes in Orthodox icon writing and has developed an Indian style of the same.

Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II was glad to receive the special icon from George Alexander (Secretary and Spokesperson). George explained the details of the Icon to His Holiness the Patriarch. The primate thanked OCP Delegation for the unique gift.
