• A Roman Catholic priest of Mysore diocese was found hanging dead from the ceiling fan of his presbytery’s bedroom Wednesday morning.The body of 56-year Father Raja Kannu was found when some members of his St. Joseph parish in PG Palaya searched for him after the priest failed to turn up for morning Mass.“We do not suspect any foul play,” Bishop Thomas Vazhapilly of Mysore told ucanews.com yesterday after leading the funeral of the priest, whom he described as “very popular pastor and a man of prayer.”

  However, Bishop Vazhapilly said the priest was under “some depression” after he was diagnosed with an enlarged liver, and was under medication for illness including diabetes.

  The prelate said after police formalities and post mortem, they conducted funeral prayers, which was joined by some 2,000 people “who came from all the parishes where he served. He was such a popular pastor,” the bishop said.
